Climate Change Gardening

Woke up at 5.30am with the sun streaming through the window and the garden beckoning.

Outside the wildlife was already up and working  – the flowers busy with bees and butterflies taking their early morning nectar. We really need a hot summer to help boost the butterfly population who have found it hard to reproduce in the wash-outs of 2007 and 2008. http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/sci/tech/7363411.stm

If my garden is anything to go by they are doing well this year. There have been a host of beautiful butterflies dancing around the past few days as you can see from this early morning photo.

I love this time of day when no-one is around and I can soak up the wonder that is nature and try to capture those special moments -  hope these few shots bring a taste of Sussex to your morning.

I am not an experienced gardener - more of an enthusiastic amateur who learns by trial and error and is keen to "manage" the effects of the weather on my garden. Writing this blog is my passion and I hope that it will continue to grow, allowing global gardeners to communicate about the effects of climate change on our plants and the future of our gardens.
